The short version: we collect only what we need to run the service, we don't sell your data, and we don't use your expense records to train AI models.

Joey Tab is a shared expense tracking service for coparents. When we say "Joey Tab," "we," "us," or "our," we're referring to the company and its Service. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information collected through our website and application.
Account information: When you register, we collect your email address, a display name, and a password (stored as a hashed value — we never store your plain-text password).
Expense data: The expense records you and the other parent enter — amounts, dates, categories, descriptions, and any attached receipt photos.
Household data: Your household name, the children's names, and your agreed expense split percentage.
Payment information: Billing is handled by our payment processor (Stripe). We do not store your full credit card number — only the last four digits and card type are retained for display purposes.
Usage data: Basic logs of how you interact with the Service, including page views, feature usage, and timestamps. This data is used to improve the product and diagnose issues.
Device information: Browser type, operating system, and IP address, collected automatically when you access the Service.
We use the information we collect to:
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not build advertising profiles based on your use of Joey Tab.
We do not sell your personal data. We share data with third parties only in the following limited circumstances:
The other parent in your household: Both parents in a household see the same shared expense record. This is the core functionality of the Service and is expected.
Service providers: We use third-party vendors to operate the Service, including Cloudflare (infrastructure and database), Stripe (payment processing), and Resend (transactional email). These vendors process data on our behalf under confidentiality agreements and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
Legal requirements: We may disclose your data if required to do so by law, court order, or valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Joey Tab, our users, or the public.
Business transfers: If Joey Tab is acquired or merges with another company, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Joey Tab uses the Anthropic Claude API to generate monthly expense statements. When you generate a statement, the expense data for that month is sent to Anthropic's API to produce a plain-text narrative summary.
We send only the expense records needed to generate the statement — no account credentials, no payment information, no identifying details beyond what's in the expense records themselves. Anthropic's data handling is governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
We do not use your expense data to train AI models, and we have not opted into data sharing arrangements with Anthropic that would allow your data to be used for training purposes.
We retain your account and expense data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription, your data is retained for 90 days to allow for export, then permanently deleted from our systems.
Backups may persist for an additional 30 days after deletion from live systems before being fully purged.

We take security seriously. Joey Tab runs on Cloudflare's global infrastructure, which provides DDoS protection, TLS encryption in transit, and encrypted storage at rest. Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel.
No system is perfectly secure. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it to security@joeytab.com and we will address it promptly.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your own account. Use a strong, unique password and do not share your login credentials with anyone.
Joey Tab uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used. We use only functional cookies necessary to operate the Service — we do not use tracking cookies for advertising.
You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, but doing so may prevent some features of Joey Tab from working correctly.

Joey Tab is intended for use by adults (18+) to track expenses related to their children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. The expense records entered by parents may reference children by name, but children do not have accounts and do not directly interact with the Service.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child, please contact us at hello@joeytab.com and we will delete it promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify active subscribers by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
